Feeling Blessed

I am very thankful to be a part of such a wonderful church! The people at Grace Community Church have quickly become family to me. They are so generous! Let me tell you the story...
So every year there is a Women's Tea event that takes place around Christmas time. This year I had a close friend who was heading it up. She was working with a few others to put the whole thing together. She came to me and asked if they could take up a "love offering" for our adoption at the Women's Tea. I was touched and thought that was so special. I agreed of course, this adoption is pretty expensive and Grant and I can use all the help we can get. She asked me to say a few words to all the women which isn't my strong point, but this isn't the first time God's taken me out of my comfort zone through this process.
So today was the tea. It was so much fun! There were musical numbers, games, carols to sing, delicious food and a great message about being excited about Christ's birth. I gave my little speech; I spoke a little fast but I think people figured out what I was talking about. After the tea was over and all cleaned up I went over to our collection box. People generously gave us $378 towards our adoption! I couldn't believe it! What an incredible blessing to receive from such wonderful women! I can't thank everyone enough! Grant and I are immediately putting that in our 'Adoption Fund' account! Thank you thank you! I am so grateful and feel so blessed by you! Special thanks to Annie and Sarah for all of your hard work who made this even possible! Love you all!

The Adventure Begins

This is only the beginning! Welcome to my blog where you can follow me and my husband through the excitement of our adoption!

My husband and I have been praying about starting our family for over a year now. We knew that getting pregnant would be difficult due to certain medical issues I'd rather not discuss. Time went and we waited for our little blessing. After months and months of nothing we decided to take a day and go on a picnic. We drove up to a park on the top of hill that overlooks Laguna Beach. It was a beautiful day. We had talked about adopting before but never fully looked into it. We had always assumed we would adopt later in our life. Well, we sat down for our lunch and started talking. Later in that conversation we came to the conclusion that if it was God's will, we would adopt now. We prayed. God showed us different agencies and eventually led us to Nightlight Christian Agency.

I am excited to say that we are currently in the process of adopting our baby. The first step is the homestudy process where we are to complete paperwork, take classes, meet with a social worker, and read a few books. We've completed most of the paperwork and are mainly waiting to take the classes which are offered in January and February 2015.

It took a lot of prayer for me and Grant to get to this decision and now that we are full on in this process we need as much prayer as we can get. This is where you come in! Any prayer support you can offer would be a huge blessing to the two of us! We ask for prayer for guideance throughout the process and for peace with decisions that will have to be made. We also ask for prayer for finances and God's provision with all the costs that come with this decision.Thank you for choosing to be a part of our adventure!
